The Subway Fresh Fit Hike, Bike & Paddle is a twice annual event held every Memorial & Labor Day. Thousands of participants flock to Waterfront Park to enjoy a morning full of fun. Bring the entire family for this free, healthy community event. Various fitness demonstrations start the day including yoga, tai chi and zumba. There are numerous vendor booths available for information and giveaways. After all of that, take your pick from a 5k hike, 13.5+mile bike ride or a paddle on the Ohio River. This event is not a race. It is open to participants of all levels and we encourage everyone to get out and enjoy the festivities!

Directions:
The Subway Fresh Fit Hike, Bike & Paddle takes place at Waterfront Park's Great Lawn (map this location). The hike and bike starts on the Great Lawn at E. Witherspoon Street. Paddlers will put in at the University of Louisville boat ramp next to the Community Boathouse off River Road. (1321 River Rd, Louisville, KY 40206).
7:30 a.m. - Boat Drop Off until 9 a.m.
(Parking & Drop-off at University of Louisville Rowing Center located at 1321 River Rd.)
8:00 a.m. - Fitness Activities Start
Tai Chi, Yoga, Pickleball
8:30 a.m. - Vendor Booths Open
8:30 a.m. - Zumba (Main Stage)
9:00 a.m - Intro to Paddling on Harbor Lawn
9:25 a.m. - Mayor Greg Fischer Welcome
10:00 a.m. - Hikers, Bikers, Paddlers Start

Hike Route Info:
Hike Route #1 - Participants will travel from the Great Lawn at Waterfront Park across the Big Four bridge in Jeffersonville and then back to the Great Lawn. This is 3.3 miles distance walk. NOTE: No dogs are allowed on this route - use alternate route(s) for pets.
Hike Route #2 - Participants will travel from the Great Lawn at Waterfront Park to the Community Boathouse off of River Rd. loop around the Boathouse and head west towards the Great Lawn. This is a 2.2 mile distance walk.
Hike Route #3 - Particpants will travel from the Great Lawn at Waterfront Park; turn around at the Big Four bridge and head back to Great Lawn. This is a 1.5 mile distance walk.
The scenic 13.5+ mile bike route will travel from Waterfront Park through some of Louisville's scenic neighborhoods and highlight areas such as Russell, Nulu, Butchertown, Phoenix Hill, Smoketown, Germantown, Paristown, Cherokee Triangle and Irish Hill just to name a few!
Note: Riders have the option at any time to turn off the route and head back to Waterfront Park.
Both the cycling and walking routes will be marked with signage and will have water stops at the halfway points to refill water bottles. The Louisville Bicycle Club and Scheller’s Fitness and Cycle are providing “bike captains” to help cyclists obey the rules of the road.
“Bike doctors” will be in Waterfront Park before the ride and along the route to assist cyclists with any equipment problems. Louisville Metro Police will provide traffic assistance at key intersections, and the Louisville Metro EMS bicycle team will patrol the route. All cyclists are asked to remain behind the lead Police vehicles.
The Brain Injury Association will be on hand to distribute 500 free helmets to riders. View safety instructions here.
Paddle Route Info:

This paddling adventure will take you down a five-mile course along the Ohio River through the McAlpine Locks and Dam to the Jaycees Bpat Ramp in New Albany, IN. TARC will offer a shuttle service for paddlers to retrieve their vehicles at the launch site.
Paddlers can enter the water from the University of Louisville Rowing Center Boat Ramp located at 1321 River Road next to the Louisville Community Boathouse and paddle towards the start at the Harbor Lawn. Parking will be available at the Louisville Community Boathouse and volunteers will be on-site to assist paddlers at this location.
Paddlers can drop their canoes or kayaks off at the University of Louisville Rowing Center parking lot located at 1321 River Rd from 7:30-9:30 a.m.
Police and safety boats will be nearby during the paddling activity, and participants can get assistance from volunteers if needed in launching their canoe or kayak. Safe paddling instruction and demonstrations will take place in the harbor area of the Great Lawn.
Kayak rentals will be available on site or you can rent ahead of time online.
*This is not a race, but participants must adhere to time constraints in order to complete the route.
7:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. - Boat Drop Off/Paddlers Put In - At the University of Louisville boat ramp at the water's edge next to Louisville Community Boathouse (1321 River Rd.Louisville, KY 40206)
10:00 a.m. - Paddlers start at Harbor Lawn
10:30 a.m. - Paddlers begin to paddle towards McAlpine Locks
11:45 a.m. - LMPD River Patrol will make sure everyone makes it safely to the Jaycees Boat Ramp in New Albany
11:45 a.m. - 1:00 pm - TARC will shuttle anyone looking to ride back to launch site to retrieve vehicles
NOTE: Those that put-in at the University of Louisville Rowing Center can have TARC drop them back off at their destination.
